#LoveRecordStores is an online campaign where artists, music fans and many others are posting messages of support for their local record shops. The idea is to encourage people to buy music online during the crisis from these specialist stores and also to highlight the vital role they play in the music community.
The website www.loverecordstores.com promotes blog posts, articles and photo stories from independent record stores and the people who work in them.
IMPALA promotes the roll-out of #LoveRecordStores across Europe, together with other campaigns to support local record stores and other initiatives to promote music during the coronavirus crisis.
IMPALA is also asking current national governments to include record stores in the first wave of shops allowed to reopen (subject to necessary restrictions as regards customer numbers).
Love Record Stores Day (#LRSD)
Record Store Day has become an important fixture in the music retail calendar for UK record stores, labels and music fans alike, so it came as a real blow that the organisers have had no choice but to postpone this year’s event due to the continued Covid-19 crisis.
To ensure that this hugely important, annual opportunity to highlight the work of record stores remains in place, the organisers behind the successful #loverecordstores campaign have announced that 20th June 2020 will be Love Record Stores Day (#LRSD).
#LRSD will be a day of online shopping for vinyl exclusives at favourite record stores with a range of strictly limited-edition releases being made available to music fans. The aim is to give participating stores the significant spike in custom they normally receive on Record Store Day while helping music fans satisfy their appetite for great music during this difficult period.
Alongside new and exciting releases #LRSD will be supported with online, ‘instore’ performances by a number of artists and exclusive DJs sets being broadcast throughout the day.
A wide range of record labels are already confirmed to participate in #LRSD.
A list of participating record stores and exclusive releases for #LRSD will be publishedon the new #loverecordstores blog, which was launched earlier this week and can be found at www.loverecordstores.com. This new hub will also feature regular articles, blog posts and photo stories from record stores around the world and will aim to keep music fans informed about and engaged with this vital part of the music eco-system.
